Mentor a student
Brief Description of Project
Want to make a difference in a teenagers life? Had a mentor that impacted you? The Biotech Institute (BTI) at Carlmont High School could use your help!
The BTI is a small learning community with a focus on biotechnology education and experience. This unique program allows students to engage in workplace learning with cross-curricular projects to investigate real-work problems. We work closely with professionals in the biotech industry to expose students to the myriad of opportunities in this growing and exciting field.
Brief Description of Needed Volunteer Responsibilities
The mentor program will pair students with professionals in the biotech field to discuss both academic and career goals. The students career interests are widespread ranging from programming, human resources and sales to working directly in a laboratory. I'm hoping that you, or someone that you know, might be able to participate in this program as a mentor. The commitment is approximately 2-4 hours per month, with most interactions via email and 4 face-to-face meetings over the course of the school year. The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 3rd and the program concludes on May 18th. View the BTI Volunteer Brochure below and see what other mentors have said about the experience; or read our Frequently Asked Questions. If you or a colleague have any questions, please contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or via phone at 650-591-7502. You may go to the BTI website to see more information as well.
